2430 The Desert. I picked the white heart cover off the strawberry mousse so it could be seen better.

Feb 14 – At Sea. Big day today. The Captain and Hotel Manager have invited us to a Cabaret Luncheon in the Showroom. It was very nice. They set up tables for two with white tablecloths and an island pattern runner. They had performers from the ship and guest performers play and sing during the courses of the meal. The violin and piano duo from the Explorer's Lounge, the HAL-Cats and their lead singer performed, the four singers from the Rotterdam Cast sang and the opera family also sang for different courses of the meal. I'm going to give you the menu. The starter was a seafood salad, shrimp and scallops with a lobster tail on top and a crab leg sticking up like a straw. Next was Cesar Salad. The entrée was something for everyone, petite filet mignon, a large prawn and a thick medallion of lamb with green and white asparagus and truffle mashed potatoes. Desert was a heart shaped strawberry mousse with a cover of white chocolate on top with berries and some berry puree. As if that was not enough they gave us a little plate with 6 truffles, two white chocolate, two white chocolate with pecans and two dark chocolate. The truffles they make on board are delicious.
We retreated to the room to nap after lunch and prepare for dinner. Before we knew about this lunch we scheduled dinner in the Pinnacle Grill so we have another big meal coming. Oh well it's Valentine's Day.
Dinner in the Pinnacle is always a treat. Their menu is small but everything on it is excellent. In fact they've expanded it over the last couple of years. They kept all the things they had and added some new items, more fish and vegetarian. D had crab cakes to start and I had the shrimp cocktail. We skilled salads and went directly to the entrée. I had the 18 oz. bone-in rib eye steak and D had the cedar plank roasted halibut. Just to make sure she had enough to eat the halibut came with three very large grilled shrimp. (Too much for her so I got one of them, it was crisp and delicious) For desert I chose the strawberry cheesecake and D opted for the chocolate volcano cake. The volcano cake is served in a covered bowl and is more like molten dark chocolate lava. It's almost too much. The caffeine in the chocolate keeps me awake so I don't get it anymore.
They did not have a show this evening but opted for a Valentine's Day Party. Seemed like a good evening for getting some extra rest.
