Hi Everyone, HAL has done it again. Now not only will my Outlook not send mail but old reliable AOL can't log on any more. No matter where I've been AOL has always been my backup so now I'm not sure how I'll send my email. I'm going to try the Charter Web Site. That will use a lot more time but I don't Seem to have any choice. I'm using this short email with no pictures to test it.
Happy Valentine's Day!!!
Feb 11 – At Sea - Andaman Sea. Another welcome day at sea. We are headed for Myanmar, formerly Burma. I wonder if they have Burma Shave signs along the roads there like we had in the 40s and 50s. One ingenious trooper in Viet Nam put up Burma Shave signs along a well-traveled trail through the jungle. The signs read as follows: "Don't bunch up", "as you walk about", "or you'll be picking", "shrapnel out!", "Burma Shave". Anything to relieve the tension of going on patrol I guess.
Pretty regular day at sea. We did see long lines of fishing boats. The string nets between the raft-like boats and a tender boat roves from one to the next. Dinner was good. I had Bami Goring. It's rice with chicken satay, Indonesian style beef, a chicken leg done almost Tandoori style, some julienne of scrambled egg and vegies. I like Indonesian food and have it on the ship whenever I can. They don't make it hot enough to be authentic but a little sambal added to the rice kicks it up to a moderate level.
